On Saturday, September 4, five political activists were arrested in Belgrade under false pretenses. The five, Tadej Kurep Ivan Vulović, Sanja Dojkić, Ratibor Trivunac and Nikola Mitrovic, are activists or militant anarcho Initiative, the Serbian section of the International Workers Association (IWA).

The arrests allegedly relate to a direct action that took place at the Greek Embassy on 25 August. Damage was negligible, a crack in a window, a small burn on the facade and a circle with a graffiti as a symbolic act of solidarity with Theodoros Iliopoulos. However, the tax raises this as an act of "international terrorism" and wants to charge our partners with the guilt. If the State allows such accusations to flourish, they could find a sentence of 3-15 years in prison.

The five were arrested and can be kept in prison for at least a month while preparing the indictment.

Although one of the defendants, Secretary General of the IWA, Trivunac Ratibor stated publicly that he knew nothing of the action. It is not the first time authorities have gone after him or behind his peers, no other reason than the fact of being critical of the state.

This is a worldwide call for immediate action.

If you can organize a protest at the Embassy of Serbia, one of their consulates or diplomatic missions, please do so as soon as possible. Instead of a day of action, we believe the shares can be distributed over several days, but we think it's best not to wait. Try to perform the action before September 15 or 16.
